Barcelona Chair

To build this model of the Barcelona Chair, I began by researching the history of Bauhaus and cantilevered design that inspired Mies. I was able to derive the chair’s dimensions by dividing the piece into underlying shapes and analyzing their ratios. I placed the side profile of the chair into a rectangle, which then served as both the radius and diameter for two circles. These circles, when placed tangential to one another - as shown in the diagram - create the basic curule shape of the frame.
